Best Time to Go
When to go
Boating season length depends almost entirely on your latitude and water temperature. The South runs nearly year-round; northern waters have a tighter summer window. These are the typical seasons. The daily marine forecast always has the final say.

Florida & Gulf Coast
Warm water and mild winters make the Florida and Gulf coasts a near year-round boating destination. Summer brings heat, afternoon storms, and hurricane risk; spring and fall are glorious.

Great Lakes & Inland
The Great Lakes and inland reservoirs have a classic summer season. Water stays cold well into spring; July and August are the warm, settled heart of the year.

Pacific Northwest
The San Juans, Puget Sound, and the BC coast shine in the dry summer months. Water stays cool year-round; July through September offers the calmest, driest cruising.

Northeast
New England and the Mid-Atlantic have a summer-centered season. Memorial Day to Labor Day is the core, with September often delivering the most settled weather.
