Georgia Canoeing Association
GA
Founded in 1968, the Georgia Canoeing Association is a member-operated canoe and kayak club of over 500 memberships and more than 1,500 individuals. Members run whitewater, creeking, touring and sea-kayaking trips on rivers including the Chattooga, Ocoee, Nantahala and Chattahoochee, plus clinics and roll practice.
Colorado Whitewater

Founded in 1954, Colorado Whitewater is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer nonprofit and one of the oldest and largest whitewater clubs in the country, with over 500 active members. It teaches whitewater kayaking and safety, runs pool sessions and races, and advocates for river access and conservation in the Rocky Mountains.
Minnetonka Yacht Club
Deephaven, MN
Established in 1882 on Lighthouse Island in St. Louis Bay, the Minnetonka Yacht Club is one of the oldest yacht clubs in America. It sails Lake Minnetonka and operates a sailing school alongside the club, and has grown from 25 founding members to over 500.
Annapolis Yacht Club
Annapolis, MD
The Annapolis Yacht Club races on the Chesapeake Bay and Severn River and is best known for its Wednesday Night Race Series, a mid-week program introduced in 1959. The club runs regattas and a race office supporting competitors, volunteers and coaches throughout the season.
Bayview Yacht Club
Detroit, MI
Based on Detroit's east side, the Bayview Yacht Club organizes the Bayview Mackinac Race, first run in 1925 and billed as the world's longest continuously run long-distance freshwater yacht race, drawing more than two hundred boats each year.
Chicago Yacht Club
Chicago, IL
The Chicago Yacht Club sails Lake Michigan out of Monroe and Belmont Harbors and hosts and manages the annual Race to Mackinac, a 333-mile course to Mackinac Island first run in 1898 and the oldest annual freshwater distance race in the world.
Coconut Grove Sailing Club
Miami, FL
Founded in 1946 on Biscayne Bay in Coconut Grove, this nonprofit sailing club champions the sport with standards-based instruction at every level. It has introduced more than 10,000 children to sailing through hands-on training in rigging, seamanship and navigation.
Community Boating, Inc.
Boston, MA
Founded in 1937 on the Charles River Esplanade, Community Boating is the oldest public sailing organization in the United States. The nonprofit teaches sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding on a sliding-scale membership, with youth memberships as low as a dollar and a Universal Access Program for adaptive sailors.
Corinthian Yacht Club of Marblehead
Marblehead, MA
Founded on July 7, 1885 in Marblehead, the Corinthian Yacht Club was formed to promote small-boat sailing in a competitive Corinthian spirit. It hosts events including Marblehead Race Week and the Corinthian Classic Yacht Regatta, with fleet, handicap and team racing.
Houston Yacht Club
Shoreacres, TX
Founded in 1897, the Houston Yacht Club is the oldest yacht club in Texas, sitting on the upper western shore of Galveston Bay near La Porte. Its Spanish-style 1927 clubhouse, nicknamed the Pink Palace, is a Galveston Bay landmark, and the club has hosted many national and international regattas.
Ida Lewis Yacht Club
Newport, RI
Founded in 1928 and headquartered at the historic Lime Rock Light in Newport Harbor, the Ida Lewis Yacht Club is named for lighthouse keeper Ida Lewis. It runs social, cruising and racing programs, notably the Ida Lewis Distance Race, a 24-hour offshore event.
Larchmont Yacht Club
Larchmont, NY
Founded in June 1880 on Larchmont Harbor in Westchester County, the Larchmont Yacht Club races on Long Island Sound. Since 1885 it has hosted Larchmont Race Week, a nine-day event drawing hundreds of boats each summer.
Milwaukee Yacht Club
Milwaukee, WI
Founded in 1871, the Milwaukee Yacht Club is the oldest yacht club on Lake Michigan and sits at McKinley Marina in Milwaukee Harbor. The club offers sailing, cruising and social programs and marked its 150th anniversary in 2021.
New York Yacht Club
New York, NY
Founded in 1844 aboard the yacht Gimcrack off the Battery, the NYYC is one of the oldest yacht clubs in the United States. It was the keeper of the America's Cup from 1851 to 1983, the longest winning streak in sports history, and runs an active offshore racing and cruising program.
Portland Yacht Club
Portland, OR
Established in 1908 as the Willamette Motor Boat Club, the Portland Yacht Club is Oregon's oldest yacht club and moved to the banks of the Columbia River in 1926. It offers boating, sailing and social programs on NE Marine Drive.
San Diego Yacht Club
San Diego, CA
Founded in 1886, the San Diego Yacht Club is one of the oldest yacht clubs in the United States and won the America's Cup in 1987, 1988 and 1992. It runs a year-round junior sailing program and hosts national and international regattas on San Diego Bay.
Seattle Yacht Club
Seattle, WA
Founded in 1892, the Seattle Yacht Club sits on Portage Bay in the Montlake neighborhood and maintains a network of outstations from Puget Sound into Canadian waters. Each May it hosts Opening Day, the region's traditional kickoff to boating season.
Southern Yacht Club
New Orleans, LA
Established on July 21, 1849, the Southern Yacht Club is the second-oldest yacht club in the United States and a founding member of the Gulf Yachting Association. It sails Lake Pontchartrain from the West End of New Orleans and hosts regattas throughout the year.
St. Francis Yacht Club
San Francisco, CA
Founded in 1927 on San Francisco Bay near the Golden Gate Bridge, StFYC hosts more than 40 regattas annually including the Rolex Big Boat Series, first run in 1964. Its race-management team runs national and international championships across the club's challenging Bay waters each season.
St. Petersburg Yacht Club
St. Petersburg, FL
Founded in 1909, the St. Petersburg Yacht Club is the oldest yacht club on Florida's west coast, with its current clubhouse inaugurated in 1917 on Tampa Bay. It has a long racing history and hosts major sailing events and championships.
Washington Kayak Club
WA
The Washington Kayak Club is a volunteer, member-run organization for all forms of paddle craft in the Pacific Northwest. It publishes whitewater and sea-kayaking trip schedules from March through December and runs pool sessions, training and a member bulletin.
